Helping dog walking in the Surrey Hills stay joyful for people, dogs, and nature alike.

Step out into the Surrey Hills and you’ll quickly see why dog walking is one of the area’s greatest joys – wagging tails, winding paths and fresh air that’s good for both people and pups. This project explores how we can keep that joy thriving by celebrating the benefits of dog walking while finding positive, practical ways to care for nature and share the landscape happily with everyone.

Love Dogs, Love Nature Report

This report outlines the findings from research undertaken into dog walking practices within the Surrey Hills National Landscape. The research was carried out by researchers from the Sustainability Innovation Hub at the University of Surrey on behalf of the Surrey Hills National Landscape. The purpose of the report is to provide an overview of the literature regarding sustainable dog walking practices and present the findings from a series observations of dog walkers carried out at four key sites across the Surrey Hills National Landscape.

This work was funded by the Surrey Hills National Landscape and is published under the auspices of the Institute for Sustainability at the University of Surrey, the Surrey Hills National Landscape, and the Surrey Nature Partnership.
